Between Two Forms
From Sylvia Plath to Ocean Vuong, there is a long tradition of poets writing not just poetry, but novels and short stories too. But what is it that poetry offers that’s different from fiction, and vice versa? Are the two crafts as distinct as you might think at first glance?
Our poet novelists Salena Godden, Andrés N. Ordorica, and Alan Spence have each published work across artforms: novels, short fiction, and poetry collections, and today Leyla Josephine (herself a filmmaker, poet, and theatre maker) will explore the blurring, or otherwise, of the boundaries between prose and poetry.
