Leyla Josephine

Leyla Josephine is a performance poet, theatre and film maker from Glasgow. In 2014, she won the UK National Slam at The Royal Albert Hall. Her solo show Daddy Drag won the Autopsy Award celebrating ground-breaking work being made in Scotland. Her film Groom was nominated for a Scottish BAFTA and a Critics Circle Award. She was named as a Screen International Rising Star and won the John Mathers Award for Theatre in 2022. Her first collection In Public/In Private was released in October 2022, mentored by Kim Addonizio and supported by Creative Scotland. She is co-host with Colin Bramwell for brand, spanking new writing variety show Gubsmacked.
