Friday 24th November
2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Online / Red Lecture Theatre
Accent Society is a nomadic literary organization that facilitates synergies across languages, borders, and media. It is a home where accents become the strongest notes.
Here, we are pleased to introduce a diverse ensemble of Chinese poets: Wang Yin, Wang Jiaxin, Ming Di, Cao Shuying, Qin Sanshu, Su Xian, Chris Song Zijiang, Shangyang Fang, Jiaoyang Li, Jinjin Xu, Hongru Pan, Ivy Liuyu Chen, Yuhang Li, Susie Zhu, Yun Qin Wang, and Cynthia Chen.
This includes both established and emerging voices. Those whose works have been translated into English. Those who are actively translating between English and Chinese; text, and other media. Those who have lived bilingually with both bewilderment and discernment. And those who craft their verses directly in their foreign tongue. Their endeavors reflect an ongoing exploration and a dynamic interplay of Western and Chinese poetic traditions. They are a select group of some of the most intriguing contemporary Chinese poets.
This event will both be available to at home audiences, who will be sent a link to join in advance, and screened as a remote event in the Red Lecture Theatre for people attending the rest of the festival in person who don’t want to miss out.
