Alexandra Shrinivas

Alexandra Shrinivas is a singer and violinist based in Glasgow. She explores themes of love, heartbreak and experiences of her mixed Scottish and Indian heritage through her own folk, electronic and contemporary creations. Her work ‘A woman and her world’ was commissioned for Powa Scotland in 2022. She supported the band Campbell Jensen on their tour European tour in 2022, and her newest song ‘Luna’ was released December 2023. Along side her work for Push the Boat out with Poet and writer Tim Tim Cheng she is currently working on a soundscape this year around her poetry collection ‘Fell’ (shortlisted for the John Byrne Award in 2022) that poses the question of whether we have to tear apart nature or humanity to fully understand one another. She hopes to break down barriers and the assumptions that come with being an artist of mixed ethnicity and is excited to create a piece for the festival along side Tim Tim that explores the cultural significance of language, emotion and how that is linked to the elements through their words and music.
