Holding On and Letting Go: Isabelle Baafi & Jessica Traynor
In their incisive and inventive collections, which they’ll be discussing with Leena Norms, Isabelle Baafi and Jessica Traynor explore relationships, grief and self-determination.
Isabelle’s Chaotic Good is a piercing debut about how we are made, how we get lost and how we find new selves. Framed by the story of escape from a toxic marriage, Chaotic Good reminds us of the importance of self-determination, and how, when we feel most eroded, we might discover what we need deep within ourselves.
Jessica’s New Arcana explores grief, bad boyfriends and the power of female friendship through readings of the Tarot and Tim Burton movies. Culminating in a letter to a friend who died by suicide, the collection celebrates both the holding on and the letting go.
