‘Truth Prevails’: Does this Czech motto still apply in our post-truth era? Do art and poetry speak truth to power and what truth would that be in a time of societal polarisation and political turmoil across Europe? Three Czech poets and three poets from Scotland discuss their perspectives and experiences as they meet face-to-face for the first time following a series of digital encounters organised by Literature Across Frontiers.
With Jitka Bret Srbová, Ondřej Lipár, Rob Mackenzie, Niall O’Gallagher, Alycia Pirmohamed and Jitka Stehlíková. In association with Literature Across Frontiers
This event is also run in association with The Edwin Morgan Trust who work to uphold the wishes of the late Edwin Morgan through proactive and responsive programming. As partners, the EMT and PTBO will support Edwin Morgan’s hopeful vision for the development of Scottish poetry and translation by working together to inspire creativity, inclusivity, and forward-thinking experimentation at PTBO Festival. In line with Morgan’s own commitment to ‘translation in all senses’, this year the EMT is supporting Truth Prevails: Poetry Across Frontiers at PTBO, an event which builds on a series of virtual workshops – organised and facilitated by Literature Across Frontiers in partnership with EMT – that have taken place over the past year between a group of Czech and Scottish poets.
