Film and poetry collide in our wide ranging programme hosted in Summerhall’s Red Lecture theatre. Free, and with no booking required, join us to experience a wide range of experimental, progressive and unusual films.
We are proud to be working with a series of exciting, progressive international organisations to showcase poetry films from around the world. Accent Society, China, produce residency and collaborative opportunities for poets from across China. The Zebra International Poetry Festival, Berlin, is the longest running and largest festival of it’s kind. The Institue (for Experimental Arts), Greece, is an incredible resource of poetry film from across Europe, and our very own Glasgow Women’s Library is both an unparalleled archive and a cultural movement. Each organisation has curated a selection of films specifically for screening for Push the Boat Out audiences.
Across the festival weekend we will also screen an eclectic selection of poetic and poetry-related films, including chapters from Mark Cousins’ epic ‘Women on Film’ running each morning at 11am and Chrys Salt’s award winning Skookum Jim, introduced by the director herself. See individual listings for details. All screenings are free, and drop in.
