Red Lecture Theatre and Online
Accent Society, an NYC-based organisation dedicated to supporting new writing from China, hosted a competition inviting poets from around the world to submit poetry in various categories. Judges included seminal American poet Ann Carson, Jay Gao and Jenny Niven. We are proud to screen the winning poetry films in the “New Voices on Film” category from the competition. The films depicted showcase an incredible snapshot of the interests and concerns of contemporary poets, mainly from China. From a beautiful drag queen, karaoke-ing Taiwanese melodies from her rooftop in lockdown, to a hauntingly expressive sign language fable about a lost village of deaf people, Push the Boat Out are thrilled to present to audiences, screened at Summerhall and via our website, this specially selected compilation.
There are two opportunities to watch these films in person across the weekend:
- Friday 4 Nov 4.30pm
- Sunday 6 Nov 4pm
This film is available to watch online from this page.
